The Sinking Shaft

" the process has already started; there is no clear sense of how it will end although there is an aim in mind."
Filmed in the sinking shaft to the world’s first underwater tunnel - designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel - participants mimic the movement of trains passing each other. Dividing into two groups, they process in opposite directions around the walls, repeating their initials as they walk. As the repetition grows both a rhythm and a pitch begin to form. Beneath the floor the rumble of trains passing can be heard.
