Double Exposure II

For Double Exposure II* we were joined by new participants with infinite patience and a remarkable ability to hold a pose in front of a camera lens. We mimicked their frozen gestures and thought how much shorter or taller these well-known characters were than we had imagined. The waxwork figures at Merlin Studios joined the group photograph – but only on condition of anonymity. We recognised a gesture, a turn of the head, a posture, but could see that some figures had followed the dictates of history or fashion and were on their way out.
*The first Double Exposure took place in 2004 with two groups filmed simultaneously in Trafalgar Square and Senate Square, Helsinki.
